Exeter takes the time to build up a background story about what happened in the old mental institution where a bunch of kids decides to party, but this movie would rule even without it!
The fun begins at the party with a cheap scare involving a glory hole. As the party winds down, our main group of kids discusses the history of children tortured in the building. They also try the levitation party game.
Next thing you know…one of the kids becomes possessed! The others chain him up to a bed and use a DIY exorcism manual online to rid him of the demon. Things don’t go as planned. Pretty soon, demonized kids are running around the building killing the others in gruesome ways.
Exeter has it all: gore, scares, laughs, cute guys, the spider crawl, grisly fights to the death, a lawnmower homage to Dead Alive, and some twists. This is an instant party favorite for me.
